Est. 1840 · South Woodstock, Vermont
In the heart of South Woodstock, our historic tavern serves honest food, warm hospitality, and a glass of something fine — just as it should be.
Our Story
The Ransom Tavern has stood on Route 100 since 1840 — a stone's throw from the covered bridge that draws visitors from every season. What began as a stagecoach stop for weary travelers has become a gathering place for locals and visitors alike.
We keep the tradition alive with a menu built around honest, comforting food — wood-fired pizzas, house-made soups, and the kind of burgers you think about on your drive home. Our bar pours local craft beers and a thoughtfully curated wine list that pairs well with the Vermont evening.
